H.R. 3221 will rescue struggling mortage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, offer tax breaks to first-time home buyers, create an Affordable Housing Trust Fund, and provide funding for local governments to buy foreclosed homes among other provisions.

Position

Mr. Issa voted NO. At a cost of over $25 billion, this bill does little to help those in danger of losing their homes. It rewards business that made poor decisions while punishing millions of Americans who pay their mortgage on time or save to afford a home loan in the future.
