Washington, DC – Congressman Darrell Issa (CA-48) and Congressman Brian Mast (FL-21) issued the following statement as the Biden State Department continues to defy a Congressional subpoena and refuse to provide a report proving that the Biden Administration ignored warnings that its Afghanistan policy was an impending disaster. Rep. Issa is also a member of the Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Oversight and Accountability on which Rep. Mast serves as Chairman.

Congressman Issa sent a letter Wednesday to the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Inspector General to request the agency investigate findings by the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, displaying current employees of the spy agency “[advancing] partisan political interests” of the Biden campaign in the lead-up to the 2020 election. Issa’s letter requests the IG investigate violations of laws prohibiting executive branch officials, namely law enforcement and national security agency employees, from participating in political activity.

  • The Subcommittee on Oversight and Intelligence Subcommittee within the House Foreign Affairs Committee
  • The Subcommittee on Investigations and Oversight within the House Science, Space and Technology Committee

He was previously the Chairman and Ranking Member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.
