119th Congress - H.R. 1819

Congressman Issa continues to advocate for Royce and has introduced H.R. 1819 to waive the five-year time limitation on consideration for the medal, allowing the Commander-in-Chief to do right by history and right by a 100-year-old veteran: The Classified Combatant of America’s Forgotten War.

It is indisputable that a full, complete, and factual accounting of Royce Williams’s heroic efforts was omitted from documentation in the original naval after-action report. It is also true that Williams was ordered by his commanders to remain silent about the true events of that day – which he did. Furthermore, the board’s accommodation of the Silver Star was not based upon the full account of what Williams did that day, but rather the incomplete original accounting that Williams was ordered to represent as true. This mission won’t be complete until Royce Williams receives the commendation he has never sought but rightfully deserves.
H.R.1819 - To authorize the President to award the Medal of Honor to E. Royce Williams for acts of valor during the Korean War.
