Congressman Issa and Smart Cities Caucus Convene Bipartisan Energy Discussion
Washington, DC – This week on Capitol Hill, Congressman Darrell Issa (CA) and Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke (NY) hosted a bipartisan energy briefing to kick off the 2025 Congressional Smart Cities Caucus agenda.

The cities of today and future have smart technology woven into their fabric, improving the way people live, work, and transit and the way city's function. Energy sufficient to reliably power the demands of smart cities is essential. To that end, the Congressional Smart Cities Caucus hosted an Electricity 101 panel discussion to brief offices on the intersection of energy and smart cities.
“Energy production is the backbone of the Smart Cities of today and of the future. This is the perfect foundational discussion for the 2025 Smart Cities Caucus. I appreciate Congresswoman Clarke’s partnership on the Caucus and to our panelists for being a part of exploring policy solutions to power the future,” said Congressman Issa.
“As we carry out our necessary work of modernizing our national infrastructure, it is essential that our federal agencies renew their focus on smart technology and smart community initiatives. I was proud to host this bipartisan briefing to inform my colleagues of the vital intersection between energy and smart cities, and I thank Congressman Issa for his partnership in our shared mission to establish a future for our communities centered in smart city technologies,” said Congresswoman Clarke.
“We depend on reliable, affordable, and resilient electricity to power the economy, drive innovation, and strengthen national security. With electricity demand rising at the fastest pace in decades, America’s electric companies are working to meet this demand while keeping customer bills as low as possible. Strong public-private partnerships are critical, and EEI and our member companies thank the Smart Cities Caucus and its members for their willingness to work with us to pursue forward-looking policies that help shape America’s energy future,” said Scott Aaronson of the Edison Electric Institute.
