ICYMI – Congressman Issa Congratulates CA-48 Congressional Award Gold Medalists
WASHINGTON, DC— Congressman Issa recently met with the Congressional Award Gold Medalists from California’s 48th District: Evan Bohne of Poway and Matthew DeWitt of Temecula.
“Evan and Matthew are special people with the potential and smarts to match, said Rep. Issa. "During our meeting, I congratulated both of them on this great achievement and let them know they are part of a great legacy of young leaders in our district who earned this distinction as well.”
Evan is a recent graduate of Francis Parker School in Poway and an incoming freshman at Vanderbilt University where he intends to major in economics and legal studies. He also volunteered more than 400 hours to cleaning local community beaches and highway underpasses.
Matthew is a Temecula Valley High School student and plans to major in political science or chemistry in college. He is an Eagle Scout, earned 25 merit badges and completed more than 700 hours of volunteer community service at his church, school clubs, and local organizations.
This is the highest honor the U.S. Congress can award to a young person and honors the public service and community enrichment projects of youths across the nation.
