ICYMI: Congressman Issa, Secretary Zeldin Advance Momentum for “Lasting Solutions” to Decades-Long Tijuana Sewage Crisis
SAN DIEGO-- Yesterday, Congressman Darrell Issa welcomed EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin to the San Diego region for a comprehensive tour of the South Bay International Wastewater Treatment Plant and led a roundtable dialogue of region wide leaders and stakeholders to address the ongoing Tijuana sewage crisis that for decades has closed San Diego beaches, injured Navy SEALs, and damaged public health as a result of water pollution and airborne contaminants.
Rep. Issa said: “For decades, Tijuana sewage has plagued the San Diego region while at the same time a failed bureaucracy refused to fix the problem as it only grew worse. Now, new leadership and real action from President Trump and Secretary Zeldin is pushing past the stale status quo and driving consensus solutions. I thank them for kickstarting a process I believe can finally bring an end to this crisis.”
Administrator Zeldin added: “This visit was an imperative next step to finally bring this decades-long issue to an end. The people of San Diego want this matter resolved once and for all.”
