June 23, 2023

Washington — This week on Capitol Hill, Subcommittee Chairman Darrell Issa convened a music ecosystem stakeholder roundtable for House Judiciary Committee Members. Issa invited speakers covering all facets of the music copyright industry to provide insight into their role within the ecosystem.

As chairman of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property, and the Internet, Issa called the educational roundtable to help inform the subcommittee as it prepares for next week’s field hearing in Nashville, Tennessee, entitled “Five Years Later – The Music Modernization Act.”

Following the roundtable, Issa made the following remarks:

“As we gear up for our field hearing in Nashville next week, today’s roundtable was critical for committee members to obtain the most up-to-date, holistic view of the music ecosystem and gather a comprehensive understanding of all the contributing roles that make up this vibrant industry.”

Participants of the roundtable included broadcasters, songwriters, publishers, recording professionals, record labels, digital/streaming services, performance rights organizations, the Mechanical Licensing Collective, and SoundExchange.
