Issa Hosts Dynamic Roundtable with Local Parents, Defends Their Right to Guide Their Children’s Lives

November 17, 2021

SAN MARCOS, CA - Congressman Darrell Issa last week hosted parents and community leaders in a wide-ranging discussion to address serious and widespread concerns facing children and families throughout public health, public safety, and public education.

“Every day, the voices of parents are being silenced, and they are either ignored or prevented from stating their legitimate concerns about their own children. That ends now,” said Congressman Issa.

Rep. Issa is an outspoken advocate for parents rights, and took action last month by introducing new legislation entitled “Stand With Parents,” which reaffirms their vital rights to make the most important decisions that impact the lives of their children.

“Families are the backbone of our communities. That’s why I was proud to host this conversation to let parents know their involvement is not only welcome, but necessary. Together we can empower parents and ensure their place at the center of their children’s health, education and safety.”

During the roundtable, Congressman Issa listened to California parents from throughout the region express their views concerning COVID school responses, sexual predators placed in family neighborhoods and educational content.

Darrell Issa is the Representative of California’s 50th Congressional District. The District encompasses the central and northeastern parts of San Diego County and a portion of Riverside County, including the communities of Fallbrook, San Marcos, Valley Center, Ramona, Escondido, Santee, Lakeside, El Cajon, Temecula, and the mountain and desert areas of the San Diego-Imperial County line. Issa served as the Chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform from 2011-2015
