Issa Tribal Land Bill Passes House of Representatives
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Darrell Issa’s (CA-48) bill to place sacred tribal land of the Pala Band of Mission Indians into a trust, introduced in January with Congressman Juan Vargas (CA-52), passed the House without objection. Congressman Issa made the following statement:
“The Pala Band of Mission Indians is an important and meaningful part of our Southern California community, and I know Pala will carry out its rightful stewardship in a way that will protect and preserve the sacred lands,” said Rep. Issa. “We worked diligently to bring together supporters from across the aisle and from both houses of Congress, and I am especially thankful to my friend Rep. Vargas for his partnership. It is a tribute to the integrity of the Pala project that it passed the House by unanimous consent.”
