Issa on Vote Banning Cooperation with ICE: “Lawless, Dangerous, and Out of Touch”
ESCONDIDO – Congressman Issa announced his opposition to a resolution approved today by the San Diego County Board of Supervisors that would prohibit county cooperation with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as it enforces federal law violated by criminal illegal aliens. The measure was passed by a 3-1 vote.
“For four years, America has endured its worst border crisis ever, and nowhere has that disaster had a greater effect than our home region of San Diego and Southern California,” said Rep. Issa. “After all the damage that Biden-Harris open borders have done, it is astonishing that this Board of Supervisors is siding with criminal illegal aliens and pledging to oppose the law of the land. This will not stand.”
The proposal specifically prohibits county law enforcement agencies and officers from responding to ICE inquiries or communicating with ICE regarding individuals’ incarceration status or release dates. But it would also attempt to stop the county from informing ICE about violent criminal aliens guilty of assault, burglary, and sexual abuse.
“The shielding of criminal illegals with a law intended to stop law enforcement represents the most radical agenda of some members of this Board. I hope common sense prevails and this agenda item is swept aside like the lawless, dangerous, and out of touch idea it is,” said Issa.
