Rep. Issa Praises President Trump's Historic Middle East Peace Agreement

October 9, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Darrell Issa (CA-48), Vice Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee issued the following statement in response to the formal agreement of President Trump’s Middle East peace agreement:

“On day one of this administration, President Trump inherited a world in conflict in every corner of the globe, and he went to work in a way that no American president has before.

“He dispatched his most trusted team members and then followed up with personal diplomacy that did not accept a deal at any cost but drove hard bargains that had America’s interest at the center.

“In region after region, it is clear that the Trump strategy has taken hold, fusing an insistence upon cessation of fighting with a forward-looking agenda of lasting peace.

“What this president and this administration have achieved in the Middle East is not only historic, but remarkable, and wholly unexpected by a foreign policy world tethered to a stale global status quo. President Trump was willing to stake his strongest beliefs, put his credibility on the line to advance our goals, and drive the process towards honorable consensus. He is succeeding where so many have failed or were unwilling to try.

“I applaud President Trump for achieving the release of Israeli hostages held for more than two years as well as the elusive ceasefire that can allow for the region to rebuild better than before.

“While more work remains to be done, historic strides are being taken thanks to President Trump, and he is clearly not done working towards a more peaceful, prosperous, and just world.”
