Washington – Legislation authored by Congressman Darrell Issa (CA-48), Chairman of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property, and the Internet to amend U.S. patent code passed the House Judiciary Committee by unanimous voice vote.

Issa’s bill, H.R. 7803, authorizes the Director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to provide good faith exceptions to certain fines imposed for minor infractions of the U.S. patent code.

Escondido – Last week, Congressman Darrell Issa (CA-48) announced 10 students from California’s 48th Congressional district who received appointments to U.S. Military Service Academies.

Rep. Issa honored these students at a congratulatory breakfast hosted in Escondido, CA which also included their families as well as local veterans and members of the military community.

WASHINGTON — Yesterday, Congressman Darrell Issa (CA-48) and Congressman Joaquin Castro (TX-20) – both senior members of the House Foreign Affairs Committee – introduced the Indian Ocean Region Strategic Review Act. This bipartisan legislation would enhance U.S. strategic engagement with the Indian Ocean region by requiring the development of a multi-year strategy and implementation plan for coordinated regional military, diplomatic, and development initiatives.

Washington – Last week, Congressman Darrell Issa (CA-48), Chairman of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property, and the Internet, continued spearheading a bipartisan, bicameral initiative to halt the implementation of a Biden Administration proposal that would allow the federal government to exercise march-in rights under the Bayh-Dole Act and weaken intellectual property to control prescription drug prices.

On May 8, 2024, Congressman Issa voted in support of the Fire Grants and Safety Act in the House.  

Firefighters play a critical role in mitigating and responding to the persistent threat of fires that occur at our homes, businesses, across landscapes, and other locations in our communities. In 2021, there were an estimated 1.35 million fires responded to by local fire departments in the United States.  These fires caused 3,800 civilian deaths and an estimated $15.9 billion in property damage.

Escondido, CA – Today, Congressman Darrell Issa (CA-48) announced that Ramona High School Senior Audrey Norton is the winner of the 2024 Congressional Art Competition for California’s 48th District. Audrey’s winning entry is entitled Standing the Watch.

"Audrey's striking artwork has brought forth a visually captivating piece that truly represents the 48th District. I'm eager for it to be celebrated in our local community and presented in the U.S. Capitol, where it will be on display for the year ahead," said Rep. Issa.
